ATOMIC BOMB NOW IN USE AGAINST JAPAN.
President Truman yesterday startled the world of science by announcing that an American aeroplane on Sunday dropped an atomic bomb on a Japanese supply base on Hiroshima. "That bomb," he said, "had more power than 20,000 tons of T.N.T., and more than 2,000 times the blast power of the 10-tonners dropped by the R.A.F. on Germany.The new bomb harnesses the power of the universe, the President is quoted as saying: "The most amazing advance in warfare since the invention of gun powder."
